VOLARE

To fly in Latin, a life-size 3D sculpted installation piece created to purposely confuse people’s perception of what is a traditional sense of a sculpture, and what is a piece of wearable art. As seen below, the piece is created using 3D Pen with 42 feet worth of 3D filament in black .

Design wise, it is inspired by our age old fascination and worshiping of pagan gods with wings. From the Egyptian Horus, to Greek god Eros and Hindu god Garuda,  though the vast majority of us we no longer believe in their existences, we nonetheless, still emulate and are aspired to their mythical power and immortality as ever.

During the exhibition, the idea of using technology to re-create what we once believed made me realize though the means may have evolved, our desires, fears, and aspirations have always stay the same.

Material: 3D printed filament in Black
Size: Life size
